It all comes down to cidermakers—without them, we wouldn't exist. At CIDER ON FILM, one of our main goals is to document & promote cider via the old-timey romance of classic film cameras and traditional film development methods, and it's these traditions and the craftwork involved that we think match great with the continuously mind-blowing work of one of our favorite cidermakers: Tom Oliver of Oliver's Cider & Perry in the U.K.
Tom's "Oldfield" still perry will rearrange your taste buds in ways you could never imagine. And such a perry requires something special. Thus, for the film picture on the back we used a 1939-1946 Graflex Miniature Speed Graphic with an early-1900s E Kraus Trianar vintage barrel lens with beautiful bokeh to give the photograph of this deeply crafted, tasteful perry a vintage look & feel. The film was expired Fujifilm Pro400H, negative size 6x9cm. In terms of resolution, this film negative size outperforms even the highest-level professional digital cameras, which can cost upward of 50,000 USD. Oliver's does not hold back when it comes to their craft, so we can't either when it comes to documenting such ciders in full form.
For the shirt as well, we don't skimp. Sure, other shirts are cheaper, but we use only American Apparel fabric because it's simply the best.
